The Republic–New Hampshire’s state Senate is considering whether or not to give $333,000 in federal funding back to the federal government that would be used to plan a state-run health insurance exchange. The House voted to do so last month. The money is part of a $1 million grant; two thirds of it have already been spent.

Think Progress – If Democrats move to pass health care reform after tomorrow’s summit, their newfound momentum can be at least partly attributed to WellPoint’s decision to drastically increase premiums in California’s individual health insurance market. The rate increases highlighted the broken health care system and pressured lawmakers to drastically reform the individual health insurance market. The administration’s strong response also enunciated the differences in lawmakers’ approach to reform and may have pushed the President to add stronger cost control provisions into his health care blue-print.

Lori told an extremely personal story about how health reform would benefit her. She was a successful entrepreneur and started her own business. However, because she has Hepatitis C, she is still unable to find insurance. As she says, health reform would enable people like her with a pre-existing condition to purchase an affordable health care plan.
