Health Wonk Review for August 18, 2016

Short and Sweet Edition

Jason Shafrin has posted this week’s edition of Health Wonk Review over at Healthcare Economist. It’s the Short and Sweet Edition, despite the fact that it’s chock full – “chock” being my shorthand for 17 posts. (That’s most I can ever remember, which tells me that wonks everywhere are finally getting hip to HWR’s greatness.)

But heck, we like short and sweet (and we clearly like images of short kids who are acting sweet).

Lots of good stuff in this edition. Nice piece from Henry Stern on health care sharing ministries, a couple of posts about individual market rate increases, and a solid overview of pregnancy and special enrollment periods from Jay Norris over at Colorado Health Insurance Insider.

On the Medicare side, our host Jason explains the value-based insurance design model that CMS is applying to Medicare Advantage over the next five years. And special thanks to Jason for including Josh Schultz’s great explainer: Seven rules for shopping Medicare Part D plans.

So definitely head on over to Healthcare Economist for those posts – and more – and then come on back for even more on Sept. 8 as David Williams hosts HWR at the Health Business Blog.

Have a great weekend!
