Brian Casull

Physician, author

Brian Casull is a physician and now physician executive with almost 50 years in service supporting the patient. He served 21 years in the United States Army – including stints as United States Army Medical Corp Pediatrician and Hospital Commander.

Following retirement from the military, the author continued a career in the medical community, serving as Medical Director for the Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation Center (Colorado Springs, Colorado); Chief of Staff at the Cigna Staff Model (Long Beach); Medical Director – The Traveler’s Insurance Company (Los Angeles); Los Angeles Medical Director for UnitedHealthcare; and Assistant Vice President for a Pharmacy Benefit Manager PCS in Arizona.

While at PCS, Casull had the opportunity to again serve the military active duty and retirement community as the Corporate Medical Director for TRICARE Health Care Contractor TriWest HealthCare Alliance.

After multiple years in that role, the author earned an MPA in Health Care Organizations and has formed his own healthcare consulting firm, Casull Healthcare Consulting. His business – and his web site – assists those who have to navigate the perilous topography of the U.S. healthcare system.

He has also authored This Can Kill You: American Healthcare in Transition and is currently working on a second healthcare book, focused on the for-profit health care insurance model that drives American healthcare in transition.

When he’s not focused on healthcare, Casull has become a “G” Gauge Model Railroader, done Musical Theatre and taken up the ukulele.

Two of his proudest life experiences include becoming the grandfather of eight and the continued relationship with his wife Rebecca Ann of 50 years (and still counting).
