Between January 15, 2022 and May 11, 2023, your ACA-compliant health insurance covered the cost of up to eight at-home COVID tests per month for each person on your plan. That coverage requirement ended with the end of the COVID public health emergency, in May 2023, and most health plans stopped paying for at-home COVID tests at that point.
But starting in September 2024, the federal government once again began allowing people to order free at-home COVID tests through USPS, with up to four tests available per household. This program was still available as of November 2024.
